Situation Report
Southwestern Poland,
September 1, 1939:
At 0500 hours the German 10th Army crossed the border and sparked
World War II in Europe. The German 4th
Panzer Division crossed in the operational sector of the Polish Volhynian
Cavalry Brigade. The role of this
brigade was to fill the gap between the Krakow Army and the Poznan Army and buy
time for the mobilization of the Prusy Army to take their place. The 19th & 21st
Uhlan Regiments dismounted and deployed entrenched along the edge of the forest
surrounding the town of Mokra. It was
perfect terrain for defending with hills, gullys and an elevated railroad line
to the rear. In this scenario, the 19th
Uhland Regiment is tasked with delaying the advance of the 35th
Panzer Regiment (part of 4th Panzer Division).
GAME LENGTH:
9 turns
VICTORY CONDITIONS:
At the end of the game the Germans need to have one company (strength
50% or greater) across the railroad tracks.
THE
BATTLEFIELD:
The line of lichen running from the
road on the right represents a gully.
This is Difficult Terrain and is treated like an entrenchment from
either side. The lichen does not block
line of sight, but can be used for cover.
The elevated rail line is Difficult Terrain. The Polish player sets up first anywhere from
the crescent shaped forest area in the center of the table to the left. There must be at least 24” from the leading
edge of the wood line to the right-hand table edge where the Germans will
enter. The Germans have the first turn.
SPECIAL
RULES: Flames of War use Delayed Reserve
and Air Support rules normally. For
others, begin rolling for Polish reinforcements on Turn 3. Roll a d6 for each company (artillery, TKS
& train). On a 4+ the unit can enter
from any table edge behind the wood line marking the Polish deployment
zone.
The
Germans have Ju-87 Stuka air support for the duration of the game.
They
Germans fire a Preliminary Bombardment prior to the start of the game.
